Inspired by her own journey and prompted by recent events, Russian-American pianist Liza Stepanova explores the music of composers who are working in the United States but hail from around the world. The program includes the WORLD PREMIERE of “Tahirih the Pure” (2017, commissioned by Stepanova) by the Iranian composer Badie Khaleghian and Venezuelan-American Reinaldo Moya’s “The Way North” (2017, West Coast Premiere). Additional composers include Lera Auerbach, Anna Clyne, Chaya Czernowin, Gabriela Lena Frank, Kamran Ince (West Coast Premiere), Eun Young Lee, and Pablo Ortiz.
